Prepared for Flight

Prepared for Flight, LLC of Severn, Maryland is a privately managed product design and domestic manufacturing company. Prepared for Flight® (Prepared) develops technology and provides both advisory and mentoring services for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). Prepared was founded to advocate for IP protection on behalf of idea originators, and its processes were formed around that mission. 

Prepared is owner-operated by individuals representing most industry market segments in the USA economy, from 13 states and Washington D.C., and is predominately funded by our members. Our primary technology development has led to proprietary products that are being produced for cybersecurity, functional safety, and high reliability applications. We design and manufacture products in-house, but we rely on domestic manufacturing partnerships on the East Coast and Midwest, USA to produce production electronics at this time while our own facilities and capabilities are refined. Prepared for Flight leverages the experiences and expertise of its members by incorporating best practices from across all industries including classified work. 

We operate lean and agile, which allows us to move swiftly in innovation where others cannot. Our awareness of state-of-the-art technology, by being practitioners in industry and participants in working groups, permits an advantage over larger design firms or companies with only niche technology knowledge.  

Prepared for Flight offers general makerspace services to its members and clients that cover additive and subtractive manufacturing, 3d design and photogrammetry, electronics design and Design for Excellence reviews, and software platforms including applications, web servers, artificial intelligence and machine learning workflows. 

Prepared for Flight is a sponsoring founding member of the 503c Nation of Makers, which facilitates opportunities to all parts of the country regardless of their socioeconomic demographics. As a central convener of the maker community, Nation of Makers maintains a unique overarching view of the impact of the maker movement on a wide range of sectors and fields, from education to defense, manufacturing, economic development, entrepreneurship and workforce development. Prepared provides thought leadership and data analytics to Nation of Makers and their data working group, makethedata.org.
