Prepared for Flight, LLC, was formed as a makerspace to fulfill the local need for a revolutionary environment where dreams of “what if” can organically develop from the ether of ideas to the full realization of success. Prepared for Flight is a venture capital group which develops its own IP and manufactures its own products.
Prepared for Flight® provides a launchpad for idea development and the opportunity to engage our planet’s human element. Personal experience and knowledge are catalysts in our engine to evolve thought – the core of discovery – to unleash its limitless potential and redefine possible. Idea development processes are often atypical and require a non-traditional business approach.
At Prepared for Flight®, we saw that there was a growing need for individuals to have access to an experienced entrepreneurial knowledge base while still being able to not only develop their own idea, but retain a majority stake in it as well. Our company was founded to make sure the idea originator and the engineer are credited for their work. Unconventional in America, but it works for us.
In 2020 we opened our doors to outside clientele, are constantly expanding our team of collaborators and our manufacturing collective. We created a makerspace and manufacturing infrastructure.
We welcome your ideas and offer an avenue for you to succeed.
Our team members, partners in our manufacturing collective, and our clients traverse the professional spectrum, bringing experiences from a variety of industries and market segments. We are engineers and artists, sales managers and marketeers, people who love hands-on work, and some who prefer to simply offer insight.
We are prepared for innovation, prepared to develop new ideas, by staying swift, agile, and lean, and caring about quality work throughout the process.
Like a caterpillar not waiting for metamorphosis to fly,
We are all Prepared for Flight®.
"So get your flight goggles ready; Together we will prepare you for space, so you can touch the sky. "

LockBox™ was developed as a ruggedized secure computer platform. It is unparalleled for its ability to securely store data for an endless number of deployment scenarios. Its housing is hermetically sealed (no openings on the LockBox, itself), waterproof, as well as shock and vibration resistant. Prepared for Flight’s proprietary thermal management solution, LS3A™, allows a LockBox to remain small for portability or be built in other form factors (i.e. rack mountable case). An additional fireproofing feature encloses its internal storage permitting data recovery in the event of a fire. As a whole, the rugged design of any LockBox™ provides comprehensive protection from environmental, natural, and human threats.

If you are interested in a LockBox enclosure for your electronics project, please contact Prepared for Flight for more information at the bottom of this webpage. Since we have developed proprietary manufacturing processes to build these cases, a project manager and CAD engineers will be assigned to your project. Depending on scale and order size, a deposit may be required prior to work commencement.
The LockBox idea originated in August of 2010 (LockBox, LLC at the time) while some of our founders were assessing hurricane damage. While we did not endure technological losses, we did witness many business owners with these hardships. Mark Glover challenged Ed Wyrwas to figure out a way to safeguard business IT assets, personal storage and even computational devices from hurricanes and other related disasters.
We did not want to recreate the wheel or design something that was not manufacturable, or even scalable. While systems and strategies do exist for data center clients, these benefits do not extend to small and medium business infrastructure. Further, we could not find any solutions that could truly increase the durability and reliability of computer related electronics for digital storage.
The challenge was met, and the LockBox Enclosure system was designed.
Our initial product launch will feature large storage capacity LockBox data cubes. We have designed multiple levels of functionality into our LockBox enclosures, which permits endless possible applications. As our throughput expands, we will be directly selling other versions of our platform for other computing needs.

Prepared for Flight’s Creative Productions Group is an independent music label.
We are musicians and artists ourselves, who instinctually believe that our small dedicated team can provide a personalized, fuller turnkey approach to music production than Big labels. Our team members have worked in the industry, from all aspects of music production including radio, streaming, recording, and live performances. Because we are one Prepared for Flight, our Creative Productions group has access to capabilities offered by other proponents of the company to include marketing and press releases, website development, graphical design, and US made merchandise and apparel.
If we sign you, it’s because we are already a fan of your music. We believe in what you’re doing as an artist or band, and we want to help you find a larger audience and grow your brand. We don’t force you to sacrifice your style and we won’t tell you how to do you – meaning we won’t steal creative control. We offer many benefits that the Big labels can’t, but just like them, we have well-defined contracts and licenses to help you along the entire process. We offer short term, long term, and permanent contract deals usually with a profit-split agreement to keep things simple. We don’t make you pay any upfront costs for any of the services we provide, nor do we charge any maintenance fees on your portfolio. If you are successful, then we will be too.

Tether Things came into fruition in early 2020 as a Prepared for Flight brand. The Tether Things products allow you to tether your personal pocket items. No more pocket-pat-down! Always have your lighter, vape, pen, etc. ready for use. Our retail packs come with a lanyard or retractable carabiner so you can immediately use it.
We are working diligently to provide a quality product. We are refining our color palette and making sure the colors are highly repeatable before we post them all online. We have designs for many of the popular CBD and nicotine vape pens on the market. Those will be posted as soon as our production ramps up.
From its idea, all the way through manufacturing and packaging, Tether Things are made and will always be made in the USA.

Prepared for Flight will fabricate and evaluate a commercially viable product using our Stella Fortis dual-material filament. Materials extrusion is rarely used to manufacture objects intended for use in thermally or mechanically demanding environments. Recently, however, a new filament technology has been developed in a joint-venture between the United States Army Research Laboratory (ARL) and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell (UML) which allows for the creation of much stronger and tougher parts. Prepared for Flight's Kevin Hart, PhD, is coinventor of the dual-material filament technology.
UMass Lowell is a national research university located on a high-energy campus in the heart of a global community. The university offers its students bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees in business, education, engineering, fine arts, health, humanities, sciences and social sciences. UMass Lowell delivers high-quality educational programs, vigorous hands-on learning and personal attention from leading faculty and staff, all of which prepare graduates to be leaders in their communities and around the globe. www.uml.edu
Nation of Maker Conference (NOMCON) 2022
Nation of Makers engaged the international Makerspace community with a new 2021 survey. Prepared for Flight performed data analytics for Nation of Maker’s Data Working Group. The 2021 Data Working Group developed a new survey framework with real time data analytics and dynamic visualizations to enhance Nation of Maker’s 2021 Members Survey Report.
The presentation discussed the data-centric vision for “Makerspace as a supply chain”, present and near-term needs for real time community engagement, and the lessons learned from the past two years of data collection. It was presented on June 27, 2022 at NOMCON 2022.
While this presentation was compiled from the perspective of Prepared for Flight's Manufacturing Collective, the "Makerspace as a supply chain" framework is applicable to libraries, academia, STEAM program mentors, "Thought Leaders", veteran assistance programs, and advocates of workforce development who are interested in organizing their capabilities in an effort to share knowledge and data.
